The Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance (GLTA) and United States Tennis Association (USTA) have entered into an agreement to “promote and develop tennis in the LGBT community.” We are very excited about this partnership, and the GLTA has identified several target areas in the US for expansion. Every GLTA player has their unique player ID. Until 2002, it had been requested that players use the last 6 digits of their social security number. We’ve moved away from this requirement (in 2002) when more international players were playing tournaments and ID numbers showed to be no longer unique. Since then every player could choose their own number of up to 6 digits.
